Within the framework of our Luxembourg based activities, we are recruiting a:
Data Privacy Specialist (m/f)
Permanent contract
to strengthen the Legal Department

Your responsibilities
–  Maintain and enhance the Bank and Management Company’s first and second lines of defense in relation to compliance with privacy laws, including maintaining Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs), performing Legitimate Interests Assessments (LIAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), carrying out compliance checks, and devising data breach response plans.
–  Collaborate with IT and related IT security/risk teams to ensure that data protection and cybersecurity measures are integrated into IT systems and processes.
–  Review and advise on laws and developments related to IT, data privacy and cybersecurity applicable in the financial sector.
–  Organize and provide training sessions and awareness-raising campaigns on data protection topics.
–  Draft, review and negotiate contracts on IT, IT outsourcing and other service contracts.
– Reply to questions from other departments regarding legal and regulatory matters.
–  Review, file and store legal and contractual documents for the Bank
–  Participate in regulatory monitoring for the Bank and the Management Company.
–  Draft and update policies and procedures.
–  Demonstrate sound judgment and risk awareness.

 

Your profile
Education and experiences
–  Master’s degree in Law with significant exposure to IT, AI and data protection questions
– A professional privacy certification is a must
– Significant experience (3-6 years) in the legal area within the financial services environment with a focus on data protection and IT-related matters
Knowledge
– A deep understanding of all applicable privacy, IT and cybersecurity regulations as they apply in the financial sector
– Sound understanding of the banking/financial services industry
Languages
– Fluent in English and French.

Founding member Nathalie SPRAUER, who has held the position of president since the association was created, is stepping down in favour of Michael HOFMANN, also a founding member. After 10 years as president, Nathalie wished to hand over the reins, and at the last AGM those present expressed their appreciation and thanks to her for her commitment and dedication. Throughout this period, the association has become a recognised player in the field of personal data protection in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Data retention and destruction under the GDPR

The APDL and Sopra Steria organized a virtual breakfast “Guidelines on the retention and destruction of data under the GDPR” on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

The content of this event was based on a guide developed by the APDL Technical Commission which had initiated work on the management of data retention and erasure including the treatment of backlogs of data or paper archives.

During this event, the legal framework was recalled and a methodological approach as well as practical examples were exposed. Then the technical aspects of data retention and destruction for the different data formats were discussed and finally a data detection tool was presented.

CALL FOR TRUSTWORTHY INSTANT MESSAGING

APDL joined the call for the implementation of secure instant messaging standards that protect privacy and people’s rights, and that do not rely on a single entity.

We are currently 25 supporting entities and seek to increase the number of public and private players as well as citizens joining the movement.
